Dayton Christian found itself in an early hole as Preble Shawnee stormed out to a 13–0 lead in the first quarter. Rather than letting the deficit define the night, the Warriors responded with poise and determination. A two-pointer from senior Brayden Kidd sparked a 10–2 run, with contributions from junior Henry Meredith and seniors Asa Crockett, Caden Shepherd, and Reid Collins trimming the margin by the end of the period. Kidd later buried a key three-pointer in the second quarter to pull DC within 17–15, setting the tone for a tightly contested first half.
Crockett delivered a standout performance, leading the Warriors with 16 points and dominating the fourth quarter with 7 points during a late surge. Collins added 12 points and orchestrated the offense with 7 assists, including two clutch threes in the final period. Kidd and Meredith chipped in 9 and 8 points respectively, while junior Ryan Slavens added 2.
The Warriors entered the fourth quarter trailing by 13 but refused to let the season slip away quietly. Their 23–16 advantage in the final frame electrified the crowd and brought them within a single possession of the lead before Preble Shawnee held on in the closing moments.
The defeat ends Dayton Christian’s season at 12–10 overall and 7–7 in their inaugural year competing in the highly competitive SWBL. Signature wins over Oakwood, Carroll, and a memorable Senior Night victory over Brookville highlighted a campaign defined by growth, toughness, and togetherness. The Warriors’ resilience throughout the year reflected a team whose character extended far beyond the scoreboard.
This season also marked the first year under head coach Devvin Hartman, whose leadership—along with the dedication of his coaching staff—played a key role in shaping the team’s competitive spirit. Their guidance was evident in the Warriors’ growth, their increasing confidence in big moments, and the foundation of a culture that will continue to elevate the program in the years ahead, reflected in the fight the Warriors displayed night after night.
