The Warriors seized control from the opening tip, building an early double-digit lead and showcasing a balanced, disciplined offensive attack that kept Madison chasing throughout the night. With the win, Dayton Christian improves to 9–5 overall and 5–3 in SWBL play.
The tone was set immediately as the Warriors erupted for a commanding 22–5 first-quarter run. Senior Brayden Kidd powered the early surge, scoring 15 of his game-high 21 points in the opening frame, including a pair of three-pointers. Kidd finished the night shooting an efficient 60% from the field (9–15) while adding 7 rebounds. Dayton Christian’s early dominance never wavered, as the lead remained safely in double digits the rest of the way.
Madison showed some spark in the third quarter, stringing together a brief 9-point run, but the Warriors responded each time with timely scoring and steady execution. Sophomore Henry Meredith provided a strong boost with 8 points on 3-of-5 shooting, including two makes from beyond the arc. Senior Caden Shepherd added 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals in a standout all-around effort. Senior Reid Collins contributed 9 points and 8 assists, knocking down two three-pointers and adding three free throws while providing steady playmaking throughout the game. Senior Asa Crockett chipped in 6 points, while junior Rylan Slavens added 4 points and matched Collins with 8 assists, underscoring the depth that fueled the comfortable win.
The fourth quarter allowed coach Hartman and his staff to showcase the full roster, giving valuable minutes to the bench while maintaining complete control of the game. Dayton Christian’s unselfish play and balanced scoring made this a true team victory—one that should build significant momentum as the season continues.
The Warriors return to the road next week, traveling to Carroll on Tuesday, January 20. JV tips at 6:00 p.m., followed by the varsity matchup at 7:30 p.m.
