The Warriors overcame a slow start and stormed back to defeat Oakwood 69–60 at home, improving to 5–1 overall and 2–0 in conference play. In a thrilling Hall of Fame Night matchup, Dayton Christian erased multiple double-digit deficits and delivered a poised, energetic finish to secure the nine-point victory.
Oakwood came out firing, jumping to an 8–0 lead and extending the margin to 20–10 after the first quarter. The Warriors faced their largest deficit at 33–15 midway through the second, but refused to back down. senior Brayden Kidd sparked the turnaround with eight points in the period, including two clutch threes. Senior Josh Hamlett hit a big jump shot bucket in the waning moments of the first half, helping DC trim the halftime gap to 37–28.
The momentum shifted fully in the third quarter thanks to senior Reid Collins, who erupted for 11 points and drilled back-to-back threes to fuel the comeback. Collins finished with a game-high 25 points on elite efficiency, hitting 6 of 10 from deep and 7 of 9 at the line. Sophomore Henry Meredith added a timely three late in the quarter, pulling the Warriors within one at 53–52 entering the fourth.
Dayton Christian seized control early in the final frame when Collins buried another three to give the Warriors their first lead at 55–53 — a lead they would never relinquish. Kidd, senior Asa Crockett, and senior Caden Shepherd delivered strong closing performances, with Kidd finishing with 15 points on perfect shooting from three (2–2) and the free-throw line (5–5). Crockett added 14 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and knocked down crucial free throws in the closing minutes, while Shepherd contributed eight points and two timely steals that created easy transition buckets helping sustain the Warriors’ momentum down the stretch. The team’s poise and execution in the final minutes ultimately sealed the inspiring comeback victory.
