Dayton Christian earned a gritty 55–49 road victory over Carroll on Tuesday night, pushing their record to 10–5 and showcasing the toughness and composure that have defined their season. The Warriors overcame a slow start and an early double-digit deficit, steadily gaining control before closing out a hard-fought win.

Carroll opened the game on a commanding 14–4 run, forcing Dayton Christian to regroup quickly. Seniors Caden Shepherd and Brayden Kidd provided the early lift the Warriors needed, helping trim the margin by the end of the first quarter. The momentum swung sharply in the second period, sparked by a series of timely plays. After trailing 21–14, junior Rylan Slavens buried a pivotal three-pointer, followed moments later by sophomore Henry Meredith knocking down another from deep. Slavens then stepped to the line and calmly converted two free throws, completing an 8–0 burst that gave Dayton Christian its first lead at 22–21.

The Warriors carried that surge into a dominant third quarter. Senior Asa Crockett delivered one of his most efficient performances of the season, going 5-of-8 from the field and 3-of-4 at the stripe to finish with a team-high 13 points. Crockett scored six key points during a stretch that pushed the lead to 41–29. Shepherd and Kidd each added 12 points, with Kidd going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Shepherd also controlled the glass, pulling down 12 rebounds to secure a double-double on the night.

On the defensive end, Kidd and Slavens set the tone. Trading off assignments on Carroll’s leading scorer, they applied steady pressure and physical on-ball defense, holding him to just over half of his season scoring average. Their effort disrupted Carroll’s rhythm and was a contributing factor in keeping the Warriors in front.

Dayton Christian maintained control throughout the fourth quarter despite a late push from Carroll. Meredith finished with nine points, and senior Reid Collins added four points along with five assists, helping steady the offense down the stretch. The Warriors’ balanced scoring, poise, and clutch free throw shooting sealed an impressive road win.

Dayton Christian returns to action on Friday, January 23, traveling to Oakwood to face the Lumberjacks in the Pit. JVB tips at 4:30 p.m., followed by JV at 6:00 p.m., with varsity closing the night at 7:15 p.m.
