DC WARRIORS TENNIS
State Sectional Tournament, Centerville HS, May 11 2026
It is an almost perfect day for tennis, great temperature and very little wind.
108 players have gathered with aspirations of making it to the District Level tournament, only 12 will qualify.
Our DC team elected to go with 3 doubles teams and just one singles player.
First on the courts for DC is Brecken Simons, playing our only singles position and his very first tournament match of his promising career. Brecken is a true warrior, his match lasts for 3 hours 10 minutes, Brecken lost the third set and is now out of the tournament.
Doubles team Jamison Simons/Aidan Mullen are our first doubles team to go on and they have a very difficult match, facing the number 2 seeded team from Oakwood. Aidan and Jamison fought hard but lost in straight sets, their behavior and grit reflects well on our DC culture, really proud of how they control themselves.
Doubles team Luke Petty/Grace Monson started their day with a pretty quick straight set win then had to wait hours for their next match against MVS. Another straight set win and another long wait for qualifying match facing CJ. Grace and Luke started out a little shaky but stayed steady and slowly the CJ team began to unravel, another straight set win to qualify for District!!!
Doubles team Bethany Monson/Ashton Manier started their journey against a tough Oakwood duo. Making adjustments and adapting, Bethany and Ashton pulled out the straight set win. A long wait before second round match facing CJ doubles. Bethany and Ashton cruised to another straight set win. Third round and district qualifying match is against a very disciplined team from MVS.
Bethany and Ashton managed to prevail on big game points and got the huge win to qualify for the District tournament.!!!
