The Lady Warriors Softball Team fell short tonight against Valley View High school, 1-8, in conference play. Despite the loss, the Warriors had a strong showing both offensively and defensively.

Freshman Pitcher Yonna James collected five strikeouts from the rubber in six innings pitched. She allowed ten hits, and walked only two batters. The Warrior defense was strong today, but allowed four runs in the second inning on errors, falling behind. Dayton Christian outfielders Mei-Li Greenawalt (left field) and Leland Rimkus (center field) combined for six put-outs, a season high.

Offensively, the bats came alive after sophomore Aubrey Workman hit a deep shot to left field off of the fence for a double on the first pitch of the game. Workman scored the lone run for Dayton Christian. Miah Curtner, Mei-Li Greenawalt, and Yonna James each collected 2 hits apiece while Kallie Burr got one of her own. Impressively, the Warriors stuck to their short game play with well-played sacrifice bunting and stealing from sophomore Kaylee Domigan.

The Warriors return to play on Monday at home, 5 pm, when they take on Valley View looking for their first conference win of the season! Go Lady Warriors!
