In the final tune up before the OHSSA Tournament begins, the Warriors of the Water served as host for the Dayton Christian Invitational. Sophomore Adalyn Holbrook swam to second place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly to lead the girls’ team to 4th Place overall. Swimming in the 50 Freestyle, Sophomores Evelyn Garrett and Maddie Dubusky finished 4th and 5th respectively, while Garrett nailed down a 3rd Place finish in the 100 Free and Dubusky finished 4th in the 200 Freestyle. Sophomore Grayson Littlejohn was top scorer for the boys with a 3rd Place finish in the 100 Breaststroke and 5th in the 200 IM. Fellow Sophomore Porter Clemens had a fantastic swim in the 500 Free, coming in 4th Place. Coach Wiggershaus shared, “Porter’s swim was the highlight of the meet. The fact that he has dropped over 22 seconds over the course of the last three meets is a feat in and of itself, but with the practices we had this week, today’s drop of 13 seconds is amazing.” Coach went on to explain, “this week, we started preparing the kids for sectionals with some very hard practices. We also had a practice session this morning before the meet so going in to this, we knew it could be a rough meet. I am very proud of the team. We swam well and managed to have some good PRs. Now, on to Sectionals.” The boys will be swimming their Sectional Friday evening at the Dayton Raiders Aquatic Center, while the girls will be in the pool, Saturday morning/afternoon at the Washington Township Rec Center.
