Dayton Christian delivered a thrilling 52–47 win over Brookville on Senior Night, lifting their record to 11–7 overall and 6–5 in conference play. The Warriors showed impressive resilience throughout the night, battling through multiple lead changes and erasing an early fourth-quarter deficit with a poised, unselfish team performance. The victory carried added significance as it avenged an early-season loss to Brookville—head coach Hartman’s alma mater.
The game swung back and forth from the opening tip. After falling behind early, the Warriors surged back behind senior Reid Collins, who buried a three to tie the game, and senior Caden Shepherd, who provided steady scoring and key free throws. Dayton Christian seized momentum in the second quarter with a balanced offensive attack. Junior Rylan Slavens knocked down a timely three, senior Brayden Kidd connected from deep, and Collins added another triple to help build a 27–23 halftime lead.
Brookville responded with an 8-0 run in the third quarter to tie the game at 33–33 and eventually took a 36–34 lead heading into the fourth. After Brookville opened the final period with a three, the Warriors answered with a decisive 12–0 run. Sophomore Henry Meredith sparked the surge with a clutch three-pointer, followed by a bucket from Kidd and triples from Slavens and Collins. Kidd and Collins then sealed the win at the free-throw line, securing a lead Dayton Christian never surrendered.
Kidd led the Warriors with a game-high 17 points on efficient 6-for-12 shooting. Shepherd and Collins each added 12, with Shepherd also pulling down 11 rebounds for a double-double and Collins knocking down 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Slavens contributed 6 points on two big threes to go along with 6 assists, while Meredith chipped in 5 points, including the momentum-shifting three that ignited the fourth-quarter run. Senior Josh Hamlett, making his first varsity start, provided valuable minutes throughout the contest.
Dayton Christian now turns its attention to a road matchup at Eaton on Tuesday, February 10, with JV tipping at 6:00 p.m. and Varsity at 7:30 p.m.
