The Dayton Christian Invite featured several District and State Bound swimmers so the competition was going to be tough. Coach Wiggershaus shared, “looking at the heat sheet prior to the meet, I thought we would be competitive. Never did I imagine these kids would pull off what they did tonight!” What your Warriors of the Water did was swim 35 Personal Records and 3 Season Best Relay Times. The Boys upset favored Legacy Christian and the girls gave Carroll all they could handle, hanging with them to very end. The meet began with the team of Chloe Payne, Sophie Fogt, Madalyn Holbrook, and Maddie Dubusky winning the girls 200 Medley Relay, and ended with Grayson Littlejohn, Kia Millar, Porter Clemens, and Heath Conely winning the boys 400 Free Relay. In between, Grayson Littlejohn won the boys 200 IM and finished 3rd in the 100 Backstroke, while Heath Conely finished 2nd in the 100 Butterfly and 3rd in the 500 Freestyle. The girls were led by Maddie Dubusky with a victory in the 200 Freestyle and 3rd Place finish in the 100 Freestyle, while teammate Evelyn Garrett nailed down 2nd Place finishes in the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Freestyle. Coach Ross proclaimed, “these kids have worked very hard over the Christmas Break and swam strong tonight. All the PRs tonight show that!” Coach Ross further shared, “what’s exciting to see is that these kids are transitioning from swimming their events, to racing their events! It was definitely a fun night tonight. I am so proud of all of the kids.”
The Dayton Christian Swim Team will participate in the largest swim meet in the country next Saturday as they participate in the Southwest Ohio Classic. Preliminaries take place at nine different locations, with your Warriors swimming at the West Carrollton YMCA. The meet starts at 9:00am.
