Saturday night, the young Warrior Swim Team surpassed the pre-meet seedings as the girls battled to finish 4th and the boys 3rd, at the eleven team Warriors of the Water Invitational. The girls were led by Sophomores Adalyn Holbrook and Maddie Dubusky. Holbrook swam a personal best 1:12.78 to WIN the 100 Butterfly and a 1:15,87 in the 100 Backstroke, placing 5th. First year swimmer Dubusky swam two personal best times with a 29.18 in the 50 Free and a 1:05.03 in the 100 Free, finishing 5th in both events. The boys were led by Sophomore Grayson Littlejohn, swimming personal best times in the 200 IM, 2:28.37, and 100 Breaststroke, 1:11.47, finishing 3rd and 4th respectively. Littlejohn, along with AJ Blatz, Porter Clements, and Heath Conely concluded the meet with a VICTORY in the 400 Free Relay. Coach Wiggershaus shared, “going into this meet, it looked like it was going to be a long evening for the Warrior Swim Team. Added to our pre-race seedings, sickness was spreading through the team, causing us to miss several swimmers. These kids proved the theory, ‘if you have a lane, you have a chance.’ The team swam 23 Personal Records. I couldn’t be prouder of this team. Yes, we still have areas in which we can improve, but tonight, they deserve to celebrate … they swam against some good teams!” The Dayton Christian Swim Team will next take the blocks at the Dayton Christian Invite on Saturday January 10th.
