The DC Girls Soccer team entered the 2025 State Tournament with one goal: redemption. After a season of growth and grit, they launched their postseason campaign with fierce determination to go deep into the bracket.

District Quarterfinals – October 16 vs. Newton Lady Indians:
Facing Newton—a team that handed DC a tough loss in their season opener—the Lady Warriors were ready to rewrite the story. The first half was a tense battle until E. Moore broke the deadlock with a composed penalty kick just before halftime. The second half exploded with action: Newton tied the game, then took the lead. Moore responded with a stunning free kick to level the score, only for Newton to volley in another. But DC wasn’t done—Moore buried a second penalty to tie it once more, and R. Zemmer sealed the comeback with a clutch goal in front of the net. Final score: DC 5, Newton 4. Redemption, round one: complete.

District Semifinals – October 20 @ Botkins:
Another rematch, another chance for redemption. Botkins had edged DC earlier in the season, but this time the Lady Warriors came prepared. The first half was a tactical chess match—Botkins relied on long balls, while DC’s defense held firm and their offense sliced through with precision. Botkins struck first in the second half, but DC responded with relentless pressure. B. Hall’s smart trap led to a dazzling sequence between E. Moore and K. Jablonski, ending in a perfect cross that B. Acker finished with style. With four minutes left, Moore and V. Garrett combined for a brilliant give-and-go that Moore blasted home for the game-winner. Final score: DC 2, Botkins 1.

Next Stop: District Finals:
The “Redemption Tour” rolls on as the Lady Warriors head to Bethel High School to face Cincinnati Country Day on October 22 at 7pm—another rematch with everything on the line.
