The Dayton Christian Warriors Girl's JV Volleyball team went into their final match Thursday against the always tough Eaton Eagles on their home court with an even 10-10 overall record and a 7-6 conference record. Their challenge was to end their season with both a winning season in the conference and overall - which meant, this match was a "must-win" for that to happen.

In the first set, the Warriors played like they had accepted the challenge and defeated the Eagles in a dominant manner, 25-14. But the second set had an opposite ending, losing 16-25. So, the winning season came down to the third and final set.

Unfortunately the lady Warriors started the third set like they ended the second set and quickly fell behind 5-11. Coach Pete
had already used his first time out earlier when his team was behind 2-7 and used his final timeout at the 5-11 score to try to turn things around. That didn't happen - DC fell even further behind - their biggest deficit at 9-17. But then the girls began to "click" and started pecking away at that seemingly insurmountable lead outscoring their opponent 10-2 until they had tied the Eagles at 19-19.

From that point on it was back and forth until DC took the lead 22-21 on a Mady Hendricks kill. Then it was a Khloe Hale kill that gave DC a 23-22 lead followed by a Clara Stewart kill for a 24-22 lead. Ashlee Zeller came back to serve. Her serve was successful - Lexi Denhardt had a block at the net as did Clara Stewart and finally Denhardt had a kill at her middle position to secure the victory 25-22.

Denhardt led the team with 11 attacks, 7 kills and 2 blocks. Our other Middle hitter, Addie Taylor contributed with 9 attacks, 5 kills and a block. Hendricks had 19 attacks with 3 kills and Hale had 7 attacks with 3 kills. Stewart went 14-15 serving with 4 aces. Kaylah Hatter was 12-13 with 3 aces. Hendricks was 10-12 with one ace and Hale was 8-9. Libero, Ashlee Zeller had a team high 18 digs and also went 5-5 serving. Hale also contributed 7 digs.

Congratulations to the JV Warriors as they finish their season with a 11-10 overall record and an 8-6 record in their tough new Southwestern Buckeye League conference.
